What You Can Do After This Chapter

Learning objective. Learner performs payment reconciliation, matching bank statements to internal records, identifying breaks, and resolving differences with clear actions and evidence. Learner applies this skill in realistic banking scenarios, with clear examples and correct terminology throughout.

Practical assessment. Learner reconciles a week of records containing 200 payments totalling 1,250,000 dollars against a camt.053 statement, identifying five breaks, including a duplicate, a missing credit, a fee difference, a value date error, and an unmatched item. Learner then writes the resolution action and the evidence required for each break, and produces a reconciled position summary. Learner submits all work with sources, calculations, and assumptions stated clearly, and reviews the result against the chapter checklist before submission.

Expected deliverables.

Completion criterion. Learner finds all five breaks, states the correct resolution for each, and produces a reconciled summary that balances to the statement total. Completion is judged on accuracy, completeness, and clear written explanation throughout.
