What You Can Do After This Chapter

Learning objective. Learner explains banking integration patterns, including file transfer, messaging, APIs, and event streaming, and selects the right pattern for a given payment integration need. Learner demonstrates this skill using realistic banking examples, explaining each step clearly and using correct terminology throughout.

Practical assessment. Learner receives five integration needs, including a nightly 100,000 record reconciliation file, a real-time payment status update, and a bulk salary upload, and selects file, messaging, API, or event streaming for each with reasons. Learner then draws the chosen pattern for one need, naming the systems, the data, and the error handling. Learner submits the work with all calculations, sources, and assumptions stated clearly, and checks the result against the chapter checklist before final submission.

Expected deliverables.

Completion criterion. Learner selects the correct pattern for at least four of five needs, justifies each choice, and draws the chosen pattern with systems and error handling. Completion is judged on accuracy, completeness, and clear reasoning throughout the submitted work.
